Business of the Week - El Patio Escondido
El Patio Escondido has been a family tradition that originated back in 1974, when the original "Escondido" location opened in the heart of Dallas. Since their doors opened, it has been family run and operated. Now, the next generation of family members have brought this tradition along with the food that has a secret yet not so secret ingredient to Van Alstyne, Texas. When asked what that secret ingredient was, owner William Pacheco replied "The secret ingredient that I have is my mother. She cooks the same way at the restaurant as she does at home and the heart and passion that she cooks with isn't always duplicated." Their doors in Van Alstyne opened in April of 2012 and have plans to be there for many years to come. El Patio Escondido is a place where they strive to know you by name or at least Maria, a waitress that has worked with the family for 25 years, will know you by what you drink and order. So if you are wanting to enjoy some great Mexican "Mom made" food and have a nice cold cerveza or margarita to compliment the meal, check out El Patio Escondido Mexican Restaurant. This September 16th, in honor of Mexican Independence Day, there will be Mariachis performing live for your enjoyment. For hours, menu selections, or a list of performers that play live music on Tuesdays and Saturdays, check out their website for more information. When you stop by, be sure to ask for William, Maria or sneak into the kitchen and say hello to Mom. Hasta pronto!
